Welcome to the Under 9's Home Page

The Maldon Rugby Football Club U9’s is open to all boys and girls in school year 4 from September 2017.
The aim of the U9's is to provide a safe and fun environment for your son/daughter to learn to play rugby. We welcome players of all abilities so come do and give the game a go!
Our aim is not just to get the kids playing rugby, but to make sure that they feel part of a team, and the parents very much become part of the club. We have a wonderful group of kids, parents and coaches, and we are really proud of the age group!
This year the kids ditch the tags and make the transition into contact rugby and while we will continue to focus on playing good evasive rugby, we will also be to teaching the players how to fall safely, how to put their bodies into safe positions for tackling and the art of tackling itself.
For newcomers, the first three sessions are free, so you can check that rugby and the club is right for your son or daughter. After which you and your child can join Maldon RFC and we register them as a player with the RFU. On becoming a member of the club your child will be eligible to play in competitive matches. We play a number of fixtures against clubs in Essex, Hertfordshire and Suffolk throughout the season, all in accordance with the new Rules of Play developed by the RFU.
Both training sessions and competitive matches are on Sunday morning and last for about 2hrs.
We often attend festivals, and have played at Saracens on many occasions. We also Tour at the end of the season!
We play in all but the very worst weathers, so please make sure your child comes dressed to remain warm and dry through the session (they can always take layers off). Football / rugby boots are essential, especially when the ground starts to get slippery; as is a drinks bottle to ensure they stay hydrated. You should expect them to get good and muddy (they usually do!!).
PLEASE NOTE -All players must also bring an appropriate mouth guard or they will not be permitted to play. No exceptions!
